The San Mateo Massacre: Judicial Fiat by the Bay

From the "You never know who you'll run into" department, I was wandering through the San Mateo Halls of Injustice, trying to take care of a $777.21 felony parking ticket, when I noticed all of the news cameras. Turns out, it was no less than John Gilmore and John Perry Barlow, two of the founders of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, an organization dedicated to defending online privacy rights. John Gilmore is currently fighting for our right to travel anonymously on airplanes. John Perry Barlow was in court trying to defend our fourth amendment rights in the airport.

Dr. Masaru Emoto - What The Bleep?

What the bleep do we know? Well, we know for sure that the disingenuous con artists posing as shamans and soothsayers are still trying to pull the wool over our eyes. So, I guess some things never change. I went to see this movie "What the bleep do we know" in San Francisco, of all places. I wasn't wearing a sarong, holding crystals, or burning incense, but I did go with an open mind. Unfortunately, to believe this travesty, you have to go with no mind, not an open one. They claim in the movie that a few thousand people meditated in D.C. in a 1993 study and brought the crime rate down 25% in 8 weeks. Now, obviously, this can't be true. If it were true, then every police force in the country would lay down their weapons and take up meditation. If you believe it is true, then you should go start a company that reduces crime in any city on earth for a fee. The taxpayers would pay you billions to eliminate violent crime in cities from Manhattan to Mexico City. So, I went to their website to research some of the more flagrant claims they made. And, hold onto your seats folks - you're not gonna believe it but they deliberately manipulated the results! I'm sure you're as shocked as I was. Here's the manipulated graph from the "What the Bleep" website.

November '04 San Francisco Bay Area Photos

I'm really having a good time with the new Canon EOS 20D 8.2 Megapixel Digital SLR camera. Last week, I splurged and bought a Bogen tripod with a pistol grip and the remote control shutter release. This new setup is the bomb. My sister suggested I get away from shooting graffiti and homeless people so much, and try to tackle some more diverse subjects. As a result, I shot more photos this time of the San Francisco and the beach. Most of these photos were taken the last week of November '04. The beach photos were shot from Point Reyes National Seashore down to Santa Cruz. There's still a few graffiti pictures, as I tend to shoot them on cloudy days because there are no harsh shadows, and because the landscapes look better with blue skies, IMHO.
