Jennifer and I assembled all of the Habitrail tubes for her gerbil "Snuggles" today. There's a scene in the movie Garden State where they show a sprawling maze of Habitrail tunnels similar to this Dr. Seuss inspired configuration. Note that Jennifer is sitting inside the 55 gallon aquarium with "Snuggles". She pointed out that we have too much space for just one gerbil and suggested we go buy some more gerbils to fill the void. She doesn’t miss a trick.

I have two gerbils (nigel and denzil) which we thought were both boys but Nigel has just given birth, I am really worried about the babies will Denzil eat them? And how do we know that they are not both girls and Nigel was preganant when we got her? PLease help!!!

Hmmm. Actually, it's fine to leave the mom and dad in there with the babies. He will help her raise them, and she'll actually be more stressed if he isn't there. You can tell if the other gerbil is a male by holding him by his tail. You should be able to see two noticable lumps, indicating he is male. Bad news is that they breed as soon as the babies are born so, if they're a breeding pair, she's probably pregnant again. ;)

Hi, Just got a new gerbil today! Named her Brownie. Found this site while looking for care tips. Very funny stuff! We all LOL! We wondered how many gerbils are in the Garden State now?

My gerbils ate their way through all that plastic tubing even though they had tons of wood and treats to gnaw on. You don't have that problem with your habitrail?
