Denver Rises Above Law To Prosecute Citizens
The city of Denver, Colorado is at it again, prosecuting citizens for exercising their rights guaranteed under the Constitution of the State of Colorado and the 2nd amendment to of the U.S. Constitution.
The City of Colorado Springs is on the fence, trying to decide whether they should join the fight against the rogue city of Denver. If you happen to live in El Paso County, contact them and tell them to fight for the rights guaranteed to you in both the U.S. and State constitutions, or you'll elect someone who will.
Many thanks to Dudley Brown of the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners http://www.rmgo.org/ for pointing this out.
For months now RMGO staff has been quietly working on a legal case that has broad implications.
John Sternberg has a case against the rogue city of Denver which, along with the State of Colorado's case, enforces the preemption bill passed in the 2003 legislative session. In short, Denver is illegally adhering to an old law, and they'll stop at nothing to fight this one.
Even more interesting will be some facts we will uncover in just a few weeks, but you'll have to standby for that one.
Just because you don't live in the city of Denver isn't any protection: Denver will prosecute you for a violation of their assault weapon ban ordinance, among other anti-gun ordinances, even though state law says they can't. That's why this lawsuit is so important.
More will happen this summer on the case, but for now, there is an important step we can take.
The Colorado Springs City Council has considered joining in this case, and they should: El Paso county residents are overwhelmingly in favor of concealed carry, opposed to gun control ordinances like the city of Denver has promulgated, and should be on our side.
Unfortunately, there are a few bureaucrats in the way. Many of them are shills for the Colorado Municipal League, which is ardently anti-gun. CML has fought against concealed carry and preemption from day one, and their influence is being felt by the Colorado Springs City Council. There's one thing that could bump them off their game and force the City Council to join in the lawsuit: grassroots pressure.
