TSA field strips Cecilia Beaman of her rights
Innocent Victim or Unwitting Co-conspirator?
Reason is covering a KOMOTV4 news story about the mental dwarfs at the TSA. Apparently, the TSA recently confiscated a bread knife from a 57 year old woman named Cecilia Beaman. The TSA claimed she was in violation of a "felony", would be placed on the terrorist watch list, and fined $500.00. When she asked for a copy of the charges against her, and a copy of the photo of the bread knife, the TSA refused.
"I said what about my constitutional rights? And they said 'not at this point ... you don't have any'."
Sadly, the TSA right. She has no constitutional rights. Where I diverge from the masses, however, is that I don't believe she deserves any constitutional rights. She is, in fact, a part and parcel of the problem. IMHO, the ignorant huddled masses, uncertain of their constitutional protections, are equally as culpalble as the malevolent agncies to which they're surrendered their rights, like a child returning a book to a library.
"Here. I'm not sure what these rights are for. I don't understand them, and I probably won't be needing them in the forseeable future, so I'll exchange them for an ephemeral illusion of safety..."
When the the TSA, and the airline flunkeys before them, began shunting everyone, like sheep in a chute, through metal detectors, in clear violation of the 4th Amendment, where was Cecilia's outrage?
When the airline screeners began disarming people, in clear violation of Cecilia's 2nd Amendment rights, where was the eternal vigilance?
Did Cecilia ever dare to go the airport and, exercising her first amendment rights, attempt to say anything remotely beyond the pale regarding weapons, terrorism, or the New McArthyism? No. She kept her mouth shut and got in line and hoped they wouldn't find her stainless steel butter knife.
When the National Guard took over the airports afer 9/11, goosestepping through the marble halls with M203 grenade launchers under their M16 barrels, where were Cecilia's cries of "Posse Comitatus" violations? (Hint: She (and you) have no idea what "Posse Comitatus" means.)
Where were her claims of 9th Amendment violations?
Shepherding her 37 young impressionable students through the metal detectors, is like driving pigs to slaughter. What she should have been telling them was "The airport has been taken over by the Russian Secret Police", so we'll take a bus where ever we need to go. (They don't search peope on buses - yet.)
My question to Cecilia is this: What rights do you think you still have at the airports, and are you willing to fight for them? I'd argue that no one has any rights, nor do they deserve them. Not 1 person in 1,000 knows their freedoms guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, so the fact that they've been usurped by some disingenuous trolls in shiny new uniforms of some Alphabet Soup Agency should come as a surprise to no one.
