MS Word vertical scroll bar disappeared
My vertical scroll bar disappeared from MS Word some time ago. Let's say in the summer. It bugged me, but I couldn't figure it out. Tonight, it bothered me enough that I solved it. I found this post which pointed in the general direction.
In a nutshell, if your vertical scroll disappears for no apparent reason, what you want to do is go to Tools - Options - View - Show and click the checkbox next to Vertical scroll bar. For whatever reason, this box gets unchecked every so often. Thanks, Microsoft. Thanks for that.

Thanks, I nearly got really mad, I couldn't figure out why the status bar and scroll bars had disappeared for no apparent reason. I can't work without them. If I open a new document, I need to know how many pages it has!

THANKS!
And BTW, this works in Word: Mac 2008... the vertical/horizontal scroll bar check boxes are located in Preferences/Authoring and Proofing Tools/View.

Billions in Profits and a goddamn check mark dislodges itself causing frustration to the limits.
Good one Billy Gates.
If your product had integrity and quality you wouldn't be the brunt of many anti-trust suits.
You can't spend 70 billion dollars so why try to get that much through deception and fraud - you know where you got the OS from in the first place - any knowledgable tech person does - don't get me started on Apple. Pirates !! All of you!

In Word 2008 you can click on the Microsoft Icon, then 'word options' then 'advanced' then under the display section select 'show vertical bars.'

i have word for mac 2008 and you solved my scrollbar pro lem .
I have 2 equally frustrating issues:
1)My big issue right now is that when word opens, the formatting and standard toolbars are not showns. They are, however clicked. To show them, I have to click them off and then click them on again. You can imagine this.... Does anyone know how to fix this?
2)When I open word and go to file, I used to get the options "open" and "open recent" Now I don't see open recent. This is my cry for help.
tx.
