F-14 Tomcat is retired
Looks they're they're officially retiring the F-14 Tomcat. This explains why they just put one outside the main gate at Arnold Air Force Base. I was wondering what the deal was because, they moved a plane that used to be there to a new pad outside Gate 2, and put the F-14 Tomcat outside Gate 1. I was wondering where it came from, like, assuming it was a non-flying piece of junk. Probably, though, it was in perfect condition they're just not going to use them any more. They brought it in on a flatbed truck with its wings removed. Looks pretty cool to see an F-14 on a lowboy with no wings on it. Wish I had a photo of that. Maybe the Air Force will release some of these images.

The F-14 is a Navy fighter. Are you sure it's not an F-15 Eagle they put outside the gate of the AF base?

I wouldn't wager any money on it. I saw it on a flatbed with no wings. Someone told me it was an F-14. I'll get some photos next week.
