Defeating Adobe Updater
I've tried many things to get rid of Adobe Updater. It's constantly nagging me to update something that I care nothing about. I'd like for it to shut up. To go away. But nothing works. Now, I'm going to try this.
- Open Adobe Reader by clicking on its desktop icon or selecting it from your Start menu.
- Select "Edit" from Adobe Reader's menu.
- Click "Preferences," located at the bottom of the "Edit" drop-down.
- Choose "Updater" from the menu on the left to open options specific to the Adobe updater.
- Select "Do not download or install updates automatically." Click "OK" to close the "Preferences" screen. Adobe Reader will no longer check for updates.
Oh for the love of God I hope this works.

This is how I defeated Adobe Updater: I uninstalled Acrobat from all my PCs and installed PDF-XChange Viewer. It is free. It is faster. And it has more features, like annotation.
