Memories

This weekend, Jen and Sarah and I all met up in Boulder to go to the pumpkin patch at Munson Farm at 7355 Valmont St. ( Valmont and 75th.)

And Jen, I think,on the way there, starts us singing these old songs that we used to sing.

Found a peanut
Fat Ugly Girl on a Bicycle
This is the song that never ends
etc., etc.

And, apparently, we used to sing these songs, and record them also. So, I'm digging through the old servers to see if I can locate any of these long lost gems.

I did manage to find this gem: caroline_0005.wmv. Looks like some type of stop-motion animation created in october 2011. It also has a file extension of MSWMM.

This is a video of a ufo fighting a pear from around halloween/oct 2011.

ok. apparently, this was a windows movie maker file. MSWMM is an acronym for Microsoft Windows Movie Maker.

So, maybe I should be searching for MSWMM files. Hmmmm.

*.au

Apparently, these are Audacity files. So, not sure what audacity is. Probably some software I had installed at some point on one of my desktop downstairs.

Yeah. It's some shareware apparently. I make reference to it here:
http://www.peeniewallie.com/2008/05/shooting-raw-im-1.html

The internet says pretty much anything will open/play an .au file, but I can't get anything to play these .au files.

So, I'll install Audacity on my upstairs laptop. Let's see how this goes:

https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/#sysreq

So, I installed Audacity on my upstairs laptop. Let's see if it worked...

Hmmm. Tried to open it, but it's giving me a warning that it's an older version and it might corrupt the files, so I should archive them first.

"This file was saved by Audacity Version 1.2.6. The format has changed. Audacity can try to open and save this file, but saving it in this version will then prevent any 1.2 or earlier version opening it. Audacity might corrupt the file in opening it, so you should back it up first."

OK. Done. Here's my archive:

W:\_old_laptop\My Documents\My Music\Trufflehunter_Studios_MS\ *.*
was archived to:
W:\_old_laptop\My Documents\My Music\Trufflehunter_Studios_MS_Archive\ *.*

Now, let's open the file now and let the conversion thing run.

Woohoo! Looks like it worked. I was able to convert the .au file to .mp3 file

W:\_old_laptop\My Documents\My Music\Trufflehunter_Studios_MS\Smelling_Bee.mp3.

Lord.

I'm going to start putting these into a folder under s:\2018\Jennifer.

S:\_2018_Jennifer\Trufflehunter_Studios_MS

ok. So, I went down into the study, and then looked at all of the computers that are stacked there, unceremoniously. Why would one person have so many computers. Seriously.

I found a computer that looked like, at some point, that it was designated as Jen's PC. Managed to get it powered up, and connected to the network. Then, I created a folder on my s: drive, and copied over everything that I thought might be remotely useful. (I didn't delete any files...just copied them over.) This is where I copied the files:

s:\_Jen_Old_PC_Dell_Dimension_300_4SDTY71

This new directory now has the following:
Timmy sings 'oh christmas tree'
'We Three Worms'
micky dee's
Girls lost in a corn maze

I found an old CD, and put it into the CD-Rom drive. I found some pretty cool videos, including the following:

S:\_Jen_Old_PC_Dell_Dimension_300_4SDTY71\CD-Rom_iPhone\Img_0669_kitty.mov 1/30/2012

S:\_Jen_Old_PC_Dell_Dimension_300_4SDTY71\CD-Rom_iPhone\Img_1093_kitty.mov 10/18/2012

OK. Now, I found another old .au file (freckles.au), and updated it from my laptop upstairs with the updated version of Audacity so that I can export the .au files as .mp3 files.

s:\_Jen_Old_PC_Dell_Dimension_300_4SDTY71

The new directory s:\_2018_Jennifer\ now has the following:

  • Timmy sings 'oh christmas tree'

  • 'We Three Worms'

  • micky dee's

  • Girls lost in a corn maze

  • Smelling Bee

  • Freckles
