Corona Pass
So today I figured I'd go hit Jones Pass, but they have a sign that indicates it's closed through June 30th. Apparently they're doing some maintenance on the road over the continental divide. So, instead of hitting Jones Pass, I figured I'd call an audible and go over Berthoud Pass, drop down into Winter Park, and then hit Corona Pass, a pass I've not done so far this year.
It was rougher than I remember, but I made it to the summit without any problem. Then turned around, descended into Winter Park, back to Idaho Springs for Carl's Jr. lunch, and home to walk the goats. Fortunately, I made it home with enough time to walk the goats before the afternoon storms moved in.
So, I added a new pass to my Pass Bagger account today for 2021. (It's alternately referred to as Corona Pass and Rollins Pass, but if you approach from the west, it's generally referred to as Corona Pass, and if you summit from the east, it's generally referred to as Rollins Pass.)
Looks like today I rode about 130 miles.
- Corona Pass. Elevation: 11,660 ft. 15 miles in/ 15 miles out. 6/25/2021.
- Berthoud Pass. Elevation: 11,307 ft. Crossed it twice today. 6/25/2021.
- Jones Pass. Elevation: 12,454 ft. Attempted to summit Jones Pass, but Denver Water has it closed for repairs through June 30th, apparently.
Here's my ride.
