Boreas Pass
So, this week, the temperatures have been a little lower as we slide into October. But I figured, what the hell....put on some long johns under my riding gear and go for a ride. I decided to do Boreas Pass, as the leaves are changing rapidly, but I figured I'd check out the pass and see how it looked.
Left the house at 2:000 p.m. Got back about 6:30 p.m. I don't like to stay out any later due to the elk/deer wandering the roads at night. The coldest it ever got was 50F, but with all my riding gear on, I wasn't cold at all. I did stop at the Phoenix Mine on the way back, and counted 7 chipmunks, but no Ground Squirrels. This is the 2nd time in a row that I've gone to the mine to feed the Chipmunks and Ground Squirrels, but not seen any Ground Squirrels.
This map says it's 136 miles.
When I got back to Evergreen Lake, there were 3 elk, mom, dad, and a baby, and a double rainbow. Very nice out, but I'm so not ready for winter.
I left at 2:00 p.m., and got back at about 6:30 p.m., but I stopped and fed the chipmunks at the Phoenix Mine and then stopped to shoot the elk and rainbows at Evergreen Lake.
