2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ Update

So, today I drove down the hill to work on getting the 2001 Jeep Wrangler TJ registered. Last time I went to try to get the plates current, they told me that the Jeep needed an emissions test. (Same thing they told me on the BMW X3). So this time, I figured I'd better jump on it and get it done. So, I looked up the address of an emissions test facility close to the DMV office that I usually go to and I discovered that there's an emissions place right around the corner.

DMV Address: 11139 Bradford Rd, Littleton, CO

Emissions Test Address: Air Care Colorado, 10727 W Centennial Rd, Littleton, CO

So, what's funny is that someone was smart enough to build an emissions test facility about 100 yards from the DMV office. So, I drove the Jeep over there and got an emissions test. So, that part was good. Then, back to the DMV and they point out that it isn't my Jeep. It's Jennifer's Jeep. So, I call her and she only lives a stone's throw from the testing facility, so she comes over and signs something and now, I've got new plates and stickers for the Jeep, and it passed the emissions test.

Now, I'll point out something here that I probably shouldn't, but here's how the DMV works (at least the one at 111399 Bradfor Rd in Littleton). In theory, you're supposed to have an appointment. But in practice, you don't have to have an appointment. I'm down there all of the time because I've got 3 vehicles (BMW, Tahoe, Jeep) and 3 motorcycles, so it's basically a full time job to keep them all plated, insured, and registered.

Now, in theory, you're supposed to have an appointment. But in practice, you certainly don't need an appointment. I never have one when I go down there. I usually only have to wait 10-15 minutes. The trick to it is this - they schedule appointments at the top of the hour. So, if you show up at say 2:50 pm, the place is a ghost town. If you show up at 3:00 pm, the place is full of the 3:00 pm appointments.

So, as of today, I have one more vehicle running, registered, and insured. I'm thinking I'll tackle the KTM 990 next.
