Clear Creek Mines
Today, (Thr 7/27/23) I decided I'd try again to get access to the mines of Idaho Springs.
First, I went by Walmart, and got some eye-glass straps that float. That way, my glasses are much less likely to fall off, but worst case scenario, at least they wouldn't sink into the creek. Then, I stopped by Safeway in Idaho Springs and got some zip-lock sandwich bags so that, worst case scenario, my iphone wouldn't get soaking wet and cease to function.
Then, I parked my Africa Twin in the parking lots off of Miner Street in Idaho Springs, and prepared to cross Clear Creek near the Charlie Tayler Waterwheel. The creek was flowing pretty good, but I managed to walk across the creek without falling. On the north side of the creek, I observed that one of the mines was locked with a steel gate. The other mine was only a hole that went in about 6 feet. So, I wasn't really able to access either of the two mines, as I had hoped. But, at least I didn't drown, lose my glasses, or ruin one of my iPhones.
